VW Kübelwagen Kfz 1 Type 82

Model and report: Andreas Tupy
Photos: Wolfram Bradac Kit: Tamiya
Accessories ABER PE-parts

This is the PKW K1 Type 82 in Africa version. The Tamiya kit, which is a wonderul and good detailed model, was upgraded with the PE-set from Aber company. But be aware that not all of the PE parts match this very DAK-version I have built referring to original pictures.

Additional to this extra detail I also used the motor kit, provided by Tamiya, which appearence I enhanced by using thin copper wire for simulating the electrical wiring. Unfortunately nearly all of this work is hidden after the construction.

The chassis and the running gear was painted separately by an airgun. Then I glued the two main sections together and finished painting with washing, weathering and drybrushing.

The base plate is a former picture frame. The sand is made of bird litter, which was diluted in a water-white glue-mixture. This was painted sand with color by means of my airbrush afterwards.

The scenario shows the car in the Tunesian stone desert 1943.
