Normandy 1944

It was some years ago, when I built this diorama. I consider it to be still nowaday´s standard.

The model of the SdKfz 251/9 D comes from Tamiya. Some minor changes like the open stowage box and the engine bay were made.

The engine set as well as the figures are a Verlinden companies brand. The figures were slightly altered concerning their posture.

The following pictures show a fiction-scene during WW II near the D-day landing in Normandy.

Shortly after the Allied disembarkationa SdKfz 251/9 D and its crew of an armoured division is performing maintenance duties. This kind of work was a quite welcome opportunity to have some supply and information about the actual enemy situation as well.

A glimpse through the entrance of the French farm´s courtyard shows us a "briefing". The commander of the reconnaissance unit discusses the next steps with an infantry officer: "Where are the US units now, where will be their next assault? Will our supply be sufficient? What will our next orders be, blocking position or retreat?"

The driver and a mechanic check the steering of the armoured vehicle: "What the hell is wrong with this stuff? Do we have the right tools?"
