Battle of the bulge 1944
The scenario shows a street somewhere in the Ardennes and depicts a mediaeval castle ruin that only retained parts of one of its peels.
It has snowed recently for the first time and at a first glimpse it seems to be a peaceful scene....
In the foreground there is a Tiger tank destroyer that had a technical breakdown, probably with his transmission or his engine, as these were the most common problems of this monster. Another reason could be lack of fuel. The German attack mainly collapsed because of this cause!
The Tiger already had got a winter camouflage. The US troops are represented by two vehicles: one the one hand a Greyhound M8 recce vehicle and on the other a Sherman tank. Those lack still the winter coating.
At last there is the real danger, consisting of some German soldiers, who face the US advance with tense expectation.
Armed with assault rifles, hand grenades and anti tank launchers the GIs with need a lot of luck to escape from this dangerous situation safely! Adding to these troubles a sniper is hidden within the ruins and aimes at the driver of the Sherman. Maybe he will miss because of the trembling, caused by his inappropriate garment.
Remarks to the vehicles
All of them were built straight from the box. The Tiger is from Revell, The M8 from Tamiya and the Sherman from Italerie.
Painting and weathering was achieved by means of Humbrol enamel colours and pastel chalk.
The figures are from the Dragon company, but some of them received Verlinden or Warrior heads.
